Who We Are
The Jacobs University Foundation of America is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the goal of supporting Jacobs University Bremen in the United States of America. Our activities include fundraising, alumni outreach, community events, and more. In particular, we facilitate tax-deductible donations by US citizens and residents in support of Jacobs University. The Foundation has also been active in hosting a number of alumni events for Jacobs alumni and friends that are based in the United States.

Jacobs University '07
Biochemistry and Cell Biology Conny graduated from Jacobs University Bremen in 2007 with a degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. Notable, she is a Kruppie for life. She went on to obtain a PhD from Cornell University in Genetics and Biochemistry after completing her Masters degree at Imperial College London. After establishing the scientific and operational team for the Silicon Valley based start-up Transcriptic, Conny is now a Product Manager at Autodesk building software tools for Scientists. |
Raymond O. Wells is Distinguished Professor of Mathematics at Jacobs University Bremen and Adjunct Professor of Mathematics at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
He received his Ph.D. degree from the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University and thereafter had a 35-year career as a mathematics professor at Rice University in Houston. He is the recipient of Fulbright and Guggenheim awards in addition to the U.S. Senior Scientist Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, and is a Fellow of the AAAS and the American Mathematical Society. From 1998 to 2001, Raymond was working on the creation of International University Bremen, and from 2001 until 2005 he served there as Vice President for External Affairs and Professor of Mathematics. |
Benjamin Liebald is currently the head of engineering at Branch.co, a startup providing financial access and services to the mobile generation.
Before founding Mensch Labs, Ben was an Engineering Lead at Google, where he led YouTube’s Personalization, Homepage, and Music Discovery efforts. Jointly with his team, Ben won a Technology Emmy Award for the development of YouTube’s personalized video recommendations engine in 2013. Ben holds an MS from the University of Illinois and a BSc from Jacobs University Bremen, where he was member of the university's "Pioneer Class” of 2004 and the recipient of numerous honors and awards for outstanding academic achievements. He was the first alumnus to join the Board of Jacobs University Foundation of America in 2010. |
